Kathmandu / Two Chinese organizations ,China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation Nepal ( CFPA) office and Goodwill foundation (GWF) together hold hand wash material donation ceremony in Kathmandu municipality ward no 17 in Kathmandu with a total population of 19,876 on Wednesday(today) .This material will be used to build the hand Wash station for marginal population for this area, for Thamel tourist area, public hospital and some main road police station and local community. 20 hand wash stations will be built by CFPA and GWF which include of Black water tanks (200 lit) and liquid hand wash for lockdown time, but can be used for more than two years afterwards, those hand wash station will hand over to local community to manage for needs of civils ward President of Kathmandu Metropolitan ward 17, take part in this handover ceremony, and he said “this is very effective program in this area because many family members are crowded in small area in this lockdown time.Thanks to Chinese people for providing such material in this emergency time of lockdown, they are the first active INGO working here for preventing COVID-19. They have finished Hand Wash Station program in Province 2 and Lalitpur also Dakshinkali municipality and Kritipur municipality, already to build more than 105 Hand Wash Stations for Nepal for marginal peoples in this lockdown period to prevent COVID-19 spreading.”

According to the COVID-19 situation around the world, Nepal has less health-care services and lacks in medical infrastructure , staff and equipments, Nepal Government decide to lockdown the country for one week from 24th March 2020, but now it’s been more than three weeks. Nepal has long distance and open border area with India. The condition of India is in dangerous state due to corona virus and already found more than 4400 people suffering from COVID-19 also many Nepali labors are working in India so if there is problem in India it will directly create problem in our side. In this critical condition of lockdown due to COVID-19 in Nepal, CFPA and GWF decided for quick response and used the manpower in different area like Province-2, Lalitpur, Dakshinkali, Kritipur and Kathmandu.
Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward No 17 is a culturally rich area with historic sites like Kwabaha, Thanhiti, Nagha, Kwadon, Chhetrapati, Dhobi Chaur, Dhalko , Kusle Chaur and one of the residential area for foreigners like Chinese, American, European and other nationalities. Many tourists are stuck here in this lockdown period and many migrant people are out of Kathmandu valley for work as a labor job.
The renowned Indrayani temple along with the Chhettrapati and Thanhiti squares are some of the ward’s focal point, the Bishnumati river flows along its western boundary. These programs help people for the awareness about the washing hand for the prevention from corona virus and it will try to reduce financial burden for family with low economic background. It can be useful for foreigners woo who visit the Chhettrapti area. CFPA with GWF is to provide clear and actionable guidance for safe operations through the prevention awareness and early detection and control of COVID-19 in community and other sector facilities. This program is aimed at raising awareness in the people and alleviating in the different types of misconceptions and orthodox beliefs in the region regarding transmission and recovery of COVID-19. Education and proper guidance can encourage people to become advocates for disease prevention and control at home and in their community.

Material of Fund Organization
CFPA is the biggest Humanitarian organization in China and the first active Chinese NGO in Nepal which has general agreement with SWC Nepal to channelize aid funds to assist in the reconstruction after the disaster ravage that occurred in April 2015. CFPA had immediately launched emergency responses to Nepal Earthquake victims in Kathmandu. Till date CFPA Nepal office has helped more than 370,000 people. Our reconstruction program has undertaken various projects have mainly focused on 4 areas: water, sanitation and hygiene and health. Hepatitis B screening project has benefitted 50,000 people and 109 health workers exporter team in Kaski District. IN the year 2017, we executed the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Program (WASH) in Nagarjun municipality, Kathmandu, reconstructed 3 school after the earthquake and school support program includes schoolbag package (including stationeries), computer support programs, psychological counseling programs, bench support programs which benefited around 100,000 students in 7 province and some women benefited from micro financial program and local youth is now vocational training program supported by CFPA in Nepal.
GWF is a nonprofit & non-government organization registered in China and has successively implemented three phases of “Enable Nepalese Youths for Skill development through Basic and Advanced Computer & Chinese Language Training Project” in 2018. GWF will keep devoting itself to China-Nepal people-to-people friendship.
